ixel and i kissed the baby goodbye before heading off to an irish bar that will be forever known as maddigans from now on.

this is a latin mormon. no shit. and he is one of the reasons why ixel and i got way too drunk. all i’m saying is that i’m allergic to free beer… and salsa dancing with men who are over 50.

running into old high school friends at the shoe

anna is the most reliable drinking buddy in wu-town. i don’t think i’ve ever been to the horseshoe without running into her.

anna and i were sitting out on the back patio when a cute boy walked in and stood at the opposite end of the bar. i couldn’t help but stare at him. i whispered to anna, “that guy looks like eli raptis if eli raptis was 10 years younger.” she said, “that IS eli raptis.” and i said, “there’s no way that’s eli raptis. that guy looks like he’s 25.” she swore up and down that it was eli and then he waved at her! i was still staring. she waved back. my dumb ass was still staring. then he smiled and waved at me, like, “duh, i know you too, dummy.” i waved back and giggled like i was still in high school. eli was my friend, michelle’s, boyfriend and we used to double date back in our sophomore year when eli and her cousin/my boyfriend, dave were seniors. i don’t think i’ve seen him even once since then. crazy!

xochi is huge!

i showed up on ixel’s doorstep in NYC on a whim without forewarning her. i buzzed her apartment and said i had a DHL delivery. imagine her surprise when she opened the door and saw me standing there at 9am. she looked more confused than she did that time when the crazy crackheads got into a fight and threatened to kill one another in front of us at the 7-11 on vine street in hollywood.

ixel’s daughter is 6 months old and has gotten so big since i last saw her.

the visitor

jannone and i went to the arclight again tonight and we left happy. best movie i’ve seen so far this year. great casting. amazing acting. wonderful script. brilliant music. good editing. and an important story that needed to be told. when the movie was over, i really wished it would keep going. i wanted to learn more about the characters and their lives. this is not a hollywood movie - it doesn’t tie everything up in that disney way. go see the movie and you will know what i mean!

happy birthday stephen!

our talented aussie friend turns 44 today!

me, stephen & casey

IMG_0801.JPG

stephen has tought me how to hang a door, patch a wall, and i’m working on getting him to teach me to tile a floor. this man can do anything. usually he can drink me under the table but at his birthday party last night, i totally WON. THE. BEER. DRINKING. CONTEST. okay, there was no contest but i left the party pretty sober while he was passed out by 1am.

before he passed out, we convinced him to play for us. not only can he build anything and fix everything, but he’s a musician. here’s a clip of him playing one of his original songs even though he was so drunk he could hardly remember the words. he kept begging us to let him be but we pretty much forced him to play for us. good sport, stephen.

no pants tuesday déjà vu

Saturday, April 12th, 2008

went to the falcon last night with jannone & yunmi for rob minkoff’s forbidden kingdom release party as the premier will be in beijing today. fun. cute stationary in the gift bag. weird to be at the falcon as that was the original no-pants-tuesday declaration where 4 years ago (under ixel’s bad influence) i tried to get a half dozen gay men to take off their pants to celebrate with me. brad opted to stay home that night, lucky him. i even think i half hit on robin, a talent agent in town, who was wearing granny panties that night - no i did not find out for myself, i took her word for it. as it turned out she’s a lesbian- oops. don’t mean to be a tease. nope, not me.

(that’d be robin & jacob - can’t believe i still have these pictures from 2004)

i was getting all sorts of flashbacks last night. like the time i was standing outside and yelled, “who do i have to blow to get a job at movieline?!” unbeknownst to me, one of the magazine’s owners was standing right behind me. needless to say, i actually worked there for a brief stint a couple of years later and as it turns out, i didn’t have to blow anyone to get that job. yes, i am a demure and fragile little flower.

won’t somebody wash my mouth out with soap one of these days please and teach me my lesson?!

went to see this at the arclight with jannone tonight.  cute.  but remember folks, it’s pg13.  so if you’re in the movie industry, you will find this cliché but entertaining.  not as good as rounders but damn is that sturgess kid cute (or whatever his name is.)

ran into magic dan there with some people.  when i asked him who he was with he loudly mentioned some girl’s name and said “you remember (whatever her name was.)”  i said, “i have no idea who you’re talking about.” then he half whispered half hissed “i’ve been dating her for months” in my ear and i did my part when introduced.  “(whatever her name was) so nice to meet you.  i’ve heard so much about you!”  never ever heard a word about her.  sheesh.
