change of station

Brad made his television debut tonight as a communications technology expert on The Unit’s second season premier on CBS. I found it funny that he’s a tech expert as he has a hard time in real life when it comes to anything technical.

Brad’s friends Chris MacEwan and Rachel Earl came over to watch the show, drink beer and eat pizza. I have heard about Rachel for years now and have never met her. She was Snuffalupagus - I started to think she didn’t exist, that they’d made her up. But I can now swear that she is alive and a real person. Also, she is funny, witty and charming and I can’t wait until we all get to hang out again.

It’s weird how we can’t seem to find the time to get together with people and that life in LA is so busy. You start to think of life as a very removed entity, almost as if everyone is living in a bubble. But then something extraordinary happens.

This afternoon I was driving around alone in Beverly Hills doing some errands. I was stopped on Santa Monica waiting to make a left onto Canon to go get “the sandwhich,” when I saw a car just like Brad’s coming toward me. Right as the car was about to cross the intersection, I saw the blue and silver mardi gras beads Brad has hanging from his rearview mirror and as the car passed me, Brad and I waved at each other. It’s not only amazing that we would run into each other randomly like that when we had no idea either would be in that same part of town at the same time, it’s also astonishing to me that we’d both actually notice each other. How often does that happen?!

When I started my Friendster blog a few years ago http://knewlove.blogs.friendster.com/random_occurances_traffic/ it was because of one such “coincidental” passing by when Jacob passed me in Laurel Canyon and I hadn’t noticed. I really have to find the time to update this website with all the archives from blogs past.

Oy.
