Horseback Riding 1/2 mile

So I leave work and sit in the helacious parking lot that’s also known as the 101. I’m on my way to Club Monaco on Sunset for a party commemorating the launch of their new Home Collection.

I decide to stop at the Starbucks inside Vons at Ventura and Laurel Canyon for a Venti Vanilla Latte. The “barrista” was retarded but that’s another story entirely.

After 20 minutes and my latte in hand, I’m back on Laurel Canyon going South towards the Sunset Strip. I swear to God, I’ve never seen the traffic backed up so far on that serpentine mountain pass.

So since we’re moving no more than 5-10 miles an hour, I have plenty of time to appreciate my surroundings. First I get a good look at the house just North of Mulholland that collapsed due to the heavy rains this spring. Then, when I get a little further South, I see a sign that says “Horseback Riding 1/2 mile” and then has an arrow pointing straight up!

So I’m looking up the side of a fairly tall cliff wondering how in the hell people can reach this so-called horseback riding site. And I’m somewhat nervous that some horse might come tumbling down on top of me after taking a wrong step.

My ponderings are suddenly interrupted by the shrill ringing of my cell phone and before I can marvel much about how my piece-of-shit, old-ass phone possibly has reception in this part of the canyon, I pick it up and answer the call. It’s my friend Jacob.

He yells, “I just saw you!” After my grunts of confusion, he explains that he just drove past me going in the opposite direction on Laurel Canyon and he was amazed that he witnessed me sitting in my car staring up a cliff and smiling. He said he thought to himself, “She’s smiling but she’s by herself. What in the hell is she smiling at?”

I’m amazed and wondering how in a city of millions and MILLIONS of people that 2 friends can randomly pass by each other and even be aware of such a random occurence.

see, aren’t blogs great? They’re the best way to keep in touch! The thing is to be able to get all of us who have blogs to synchronize our sites so that we don’t have to log into twenty different sites a day…I love this photo of yours…
